As a custom millwork and cabinet shop we design, build, and finish all our own work in our Rockland location. Our wide variety of skills includes designing custom kitchens, bathroom vanities, closets, millwork, and commercial and office space, with exceptional skills in woodworking. We also excel at all aspects of design and installation for any project. From your home to your business, our shop will exceed your expectations and impress your family, your guests, and your customers.
After our initial meeting we will provide you with a cost estimate. If you choose to partner with Pioneer Custom Builders & Developers, we will then start the design process to create architectural drawings for preliminary review. Our standard is to deliver over and beyond the customer's expectations with attention to detail and time management. Priority number one is to work within the project schedule to keep your project on time and on budget.

Stu Hemingway grew up on the south shore of Massachusetts. At age 13, Stu became a 3rd generation builder and was taught valuable life lessons by his father and grandfather on how to run a successful business. In addition to learning his craft, he developed a strong work ethic, meticulous attention to detail, and the value of listening to the needs of his customers. He now passes these traits on to his son Max, who follows in the family tradition by becoming a 4th generation builder.
Stu is a licensed Construction Supervisor with over 40 years of experience working in all areas of residential and commercial construction. In 2001, Stu became Vice President of Weathervane Construction Corporation and joined forces with Weathervane Development Corporation to form The Weathervane Companies.
Weathervane Construction Corp. has built local projects including Weathervane at Chestnut Gardens (Hingham), Steven's Way (Hingham), Meredith Woods (Weymouth), Jacobs Lane (Weymouth), and their signature development featured in Architectural Magazine, The Village of Weathervane in South Weymouth — an active adult community of 156 single, detached homes with a surrounding golf course. Throughout his career, Stu has built more than 400 new homes and countless custom kitchens, vanities, and built-ins.
A cabinet maker and custom home builder by trade, he listens to the goals of his customers and creatively produces innovative designs that meet their needs and surpass expectations. Pioneer gets most of its work from referrals and repeat business, so it places great importance on the character and communication skills of its employees. “Building relationships with our customers and our workers is the most important thing we build.”
Pioneer has two locations: the main office in Rockland, MA is a 10,000 sq. ft. facility that includes state-of-the-art manufacturing, combining modern CNC technology with some of the finest hands-on craftsmen in the area. A satellite office in Cotuit is convenient for work on Cape Cod & the Islands.
Stu and his wife Maureen live in Marshfield and spend time with family and friends at their summer home on Cape Cod. They have four children — Max, Liana, Kendra, and Jake.

Goal Enlarge the shelf space and add covered storage with convenient access, plus a better solution for the toe kick heater under the seating area.
Result Shelves extended to the windows, trimwork added across the top, bead board backing and covered shelves, three easy glide drawers in the seating area, and a toe kick heater you don't even know is still there.
Goal The cabinets were in good shape, so we recommended a fresh coat of white paint, with more room for a farmer's sink.
Result A new matching cabinet for the sink, new hardware throughout, new countertops with seating for six, upgraded back splash tile and a smooth induction cooktop.
Goal A larger television, an electric fireplace, and a better way to hide the home entertainment system.
Result Space for a larger TV and central speaker, an electric fireplace with gray subway tile surround, and detailed cabinets that conceal the components, with one storage area enlarged to match the other side.
